Could you please introduce yourself ?

My name is Marine Tabary, I am 23 years old and I graduated from a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan.
After that, I followed the ESCLiP MSc&T from Ecole Polytechnique. Following my Master’s Degree, I joined Crédit Agricole CIB within the Sustainable Investments Banking Team.

Why did you choose to pursue your studies at Ecole Polytechnique ?

After my Bachelor in Economics I wanted to pursue my studies with a Master with both economics and finance classes as well as more technical classes with a strong focus on climate and environment.
The ESCLiP MSc&T was a very good fit : it provides a general baggage in economics and finance but also offers more specialized courses on energy transportation and sustainable investment.
Although the MSc&T was fairly new at the time (I was a part of the second promotion) I was enhanced by the quality of the teaching due to the strong reputation of Ecole Polytechnique.

What is your job about?

Sustainable Investment Banking is in charge of originating and structuring sustainable finance instruments. As a Sustainable Investment Banking Analyst, I am currently working on Transportation and Telecom sectors whithin the team.

What do you like the most about your job?

My job is aligned with my personal convictions. I wanted to work in a field that served the environmental transition and I feel like finance is a very good tool to encourage the energy transition.

What skills did you acquire during the MScT that you are using at work?

The financial and economic classes were very important as I work in the banking sector.
Specific classes such as energy economics or public economics gave me some keys to better understand the sector and the industry in which I work or in which the clients of the bank operate.

What memories do you have of your time spent at l’X?

I have very fun memories at the school during my first year. I enjoyed a lot the different extracurricular activities that were offered. I was able to practice horseriding - which is quite amazing for a French campus!
Unfortunately, my second year was impacted by Covid. I did not get to experience as much as the first year but I remember that the teachers managed to organize the classes online and be present for us.

Which words would you choose to describe this program in 3 words?

I don’t have 3 words in mind but when I think of the program this is what comes to my mind:

-    Consistent with the current environment situation
-    Very in line with the expectations of the students and the job market as well

What advice would you give to future students ?

I would advise them to be sure that the program they will enter is aligned with their values and their needs. Once you’re on campus, enjoy it as much as you can because time flies!
Try to keep in mind that - as a student - you are an advocate of the causes you believe in. You might not realize it in the moment but even as a student, you have a voice. That voice is even more valued as a student of Ecole Polytechnique!
Continue to promote the MSc&T by representing it outside the school and the country. MSc&T Programs are still new on the market and need alumnis and student’s experience to make some noise.
