Could you please introduce yourself? Where are you from?

My name is Eléonore Preux, I’m 22 years old and from France. I’m currently pursuing the Master’s in Economics, Data Analytics and Corporate Finance at Ecole Polytechnique. Before joining Polytechnique, I completed a Bachelor in Management (BSc) at ESCP Business School and a Master in Management (MIM) at INSEAD.

How did you find out about Ecole Polytechnique?

In France, Ecole Polytechnique is an institution with a widely recognized reputation for excellence. I first learned about the MSc&T programs through alumni testimonials in the media. Their experiences made me curious to learn more, so I joined an online information sessions and read about the program’s structure. I was drawn to the way it combines strong technical skills with a broader understanding of business and strategy.

Why did you choose to study at Ecole Polytechnique?

I decided to study at Ecole Polytechnique for three main reasons: academic excellence, international exposure, and the alumni network:

  •  Academic excellence: the program offers a rigorous education and an intellectually stimulating environment that encourages both personal and professional growth.
  • International exposure: the school brings together students from all over the world, creating a truly multicultural experience.
  • Vast alumni network: the school's extensive network of graduates, many of whom hold leadership positions across industries, provides valuable guidance, career support, and access to unique opportunities.

Tell us more about the classes and what you're learning.

In our Master's program, each semester is organized around three core classes: one in economics, one in data, and one in finance. In addition, there are two electives: one focused on finance or economics, and another in the humanities (such as geopolitics or philosophy). We also take language and sports courses, both of which are mandatory. On average, we have between 20 hours of classes per week, to which, of course, is added a significant amount of personal work. The courses are taught by topnotch professors who combine theoretical approaches, practical applications, and group work.

What is your favorite subject and why?

One of my favorite courses was Digital Economics, because I am passionate about the impact of new technologies on business models. This course allowed me to better understand the role of platforms, the importance of data, and innovation strategies in an increasingly digital world.

What do you like about campus life at Ecole Polytechnique?

In the first year of the MSc&T program, students have the opportunity to live in a studio on campus if they wish. Campus life is very active, with numerous events and activities organized throughout the year that help create a strong sense of community. It’s easy to get involved by joining one of the many student associations, or even by creating your own.

What's next?

After my Master’s degree, I plan to pursue a career in consulting or join a Graduate Program, where I can build on the skills I have developed through my academic and professional experiences.

Can you give one piece of advice for future students?

Make the most of your time at École Polytechnique to grow your network. Take part in campus events, meet students from different backgrounds, get involved in associations, and don’t hesitate to reach out to alumni. These connections will enrich your experience and can open many professional opportunities later on.
