The Research Program takes place in the laboratories on the Ecole Polytechnique’s campus in Palaiseau, France on the Plateau de Saclay.

Participants may complete research projects spanning from 3 to 6 months between June 1st and December 31st each year.

Research subjects are updated at the end of November at the latest each year.

 Applications typically open in December and close in January of the year that the applicant plans to participate.

Yes, thanks to the Fondation of Ecole Polytechnique (FX), all students selected to take part in the Research Program will receive financial support in the form of a monthly fellowship and a one-time payment towards travel costs. The fellowship includes health and third-party insurance.

Applying to the Research Program is free of charge and participants do not pay tuition fees, as they are not enrolled in courses at the Ecole Polytechnique. Students will be responsible for paying for their travel, accommodations, meals, and other personal expenses.

The Ecole Polytechnique does not award academic credits to participants. Participants receive a Certificate of Participation once they have completed the Research Program. Participants’ home universities are free to recognize their participation in the Research Program with credits if they wish.

If you would like to live in on-campus accommodations, the International Affairs Office will help you reserve housing within the limits of the student dorm rooms reserved for the Research Program.

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to participate in the Research Program. The International Affairs Office helps participants with all the necessary steps.

Applications must be enrolled in the third or fourth year of their bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, or a PhD program. Applicants from the École polytechnique’s partner schools are prioritized for admission to the Research Program ; however, applicants from non-partner schools are welcome to apply.

The Research Program is highly selective, with only a small number of available positions for a large number of candidates.
