Could you please introduce yourself?

I am Aditya Pratap Singh and I am from Ghaziabad, India. I did the Masters of Internet of Things and Innovation Management (IoT) at l’X. I am currently a Software Investigation Engineer with Softbank Robotics Europe in Paris, France.

Could you please tell us more about your current position?

I am a Software Investigation Engineer at Softbank Robotics Europe in Paris, France.

Softbank Robotics is a world leader in humanoid robotics and has previously created some famous robots like Nao, Pepper. My main task involves investigation and prediction on when the robot is going to fail and why exactly it failed. It also involves coordinating with the research and sales team on different software releases and helping the clients build use cases when using the robots for the company and in their client journey on using our services.

Was it easy for you to find a job once graduated?

Yes and no. No, because as you know the market is always challenging and it takes time to adapt and find a suitable link between what you studied and what you’re really interested in.

Yes, because the atmosphere and environment l’X provided me gave me an opportunity to connect to different professionals and to do two internships to find what I really liked. Personal skills that I acquired played a role too but being from Ecole Polytechnique really helped me land interviews with companies and find a job.

What skills gained during the IoT program have you been using in your current position?

The flexibility of our program and hard skills in terms of Java Programming and Machine Learning lectures really helped me identify the areas of my interests and I use them in a real-world environment. During the two years at l’X, I had the opportunity to work alongside with brilliant minds that helped me understand the need for attention to detail, thriving for excellence and always challenging yourself. Moreover, the courses in Humanities on French Culture and Multicultural Society helped me understand better the history of the country which enabled me to better face daily issues in my life. The Management courses also helped me understand how to have a global understanding of business and the important things to keep in mind when launching a product, which I thoroughly enjoyed and I use in my work when discussing a particular innovation project.

What do you like in your work?

The team that I work with is very multicultural and have always been really supportive. Moreover, the ability to work with the latest technologies related to the robot and be a change maker in the society of tomorrow by using robots is very close to my heart and I will really cherish my time spend here at the company.

What memories do you have of your time spent at l'X and in the IoT program?

Several memories come to my mind:

  • The integration week that I spent with my friends in the first year in the South of France was very enlightening.
  • The course that I did in the second year on Sensors and Transducers which helped me not only professionally but personally to search for excellence and always have an eye to improve and innovate.
  • Also, being from India, rowing is not a popular sport but I had an opportunity to row in my compulsory sports classes and during the weekends in the Club Sportif of l’X.

I never lived abroad before and I am still in good touch with all my friends that were with me at l’X and are doing well with their lives. It’s always great to discuss funny moments during the courses!

What are your ambitions for the future?

For my near future, I’d like to stay in my company for a while and look for opportunities to grow on a functional role to take more responsibilities for a product or a service and to gain more knowledge and skills as a product manager.
