Why did you decide to go on a summer school? : I decided to go to a summer school because I wanted to know how different studying abroad is from studying at my home institution. Also, since we have access to an exchange program during our semester 5, I wanted to accumulate some experience beforehand.

Where did you go? Why did you choose this destination? : I went to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, HKUST. At l’X, I am majoring in Mathematics and Economics. I chose to go to HKUST because the university’s business school is very well-known in Asia, and Hong Kong is one of the financial hubs in the world. HKUST and Hong Kong perfectly overlapped my intentions of experiencing the business school and the financial hub.

How did your integration in the program go? : There were so many people in the program. I guess we were around 230. There were people from the US, the UK, Singapore, Korea, Germany, Canada, Spain, and many more countries. They were from Cornell, UCLA, University of Michigan, Imperial College London, Lancaster University, National University of Singapore, UNIST, University of Toronto, etc. For integration, we brewed tea together, ate dimsums, and made egg tarts. People were so enthusiastic about their stay in Hong Kong.

A few words about the classes? : I took Business Statistics, Digital Innovation and Platform Economy, and C-bridge Programming. C-bridge Programming was an online course. I took the other two courses in the business school. I liked the Digital Innovation and Platform Economy course the most. In that course, we did a group project together and presented in front of our class.

What other activities did you participate in? : I participated in the Women Power Forum hosted by successful Hong Kongese woman entrepreneurs, scientists, politicians, and artists. Also, I attended a lecture on artificial intelligence which was organized by Google’s Chief Decision Scientist.

How was the campus life? : There was a pool just outside our dormitories, and we swam there for fun time. Also, there were beaches near our campus, they look very beautiful in the night. There were many choices of canteens and food selections. I liked the food there so much except some options of expensive prices.

What was your favorite memory? : Meeting up with new people from the program and hearing their experiences of studying at different universities was so nice. It broadened my views on education and living in different countries.

Did you face any challenges? : Because of the protests, some transportations were stopped at certain times. Also, there was a typhoon 8 during our stay. However, I think challenges are part of our experiences, and teach us something important that we might use in the future.

What did this experience bring you? : It was such an eye-opening experience for me which broadened my horizon. I understood that i needto give opportunities to opportunities , and use all the accessible opportunities in my favor. Most importantly, I understood I need to learn from my mistakes, and learn every day.
